Research Interests

My primary area of interest is Computing System Design, including architectures, design methodologies, and programming models. My PhD research focused on developing tools, architectures and methodologies that help to reduce the design time of embedded systems, particularly those implemented using FPGAs.

Since my arrival at SFU, I have expanded my research to include computing architectures for silicon and non-silicon based technologies (including reconfigurable computing/FPGAs, heterogeneous computing, Networks-on-Chip (NoCs), and Multi-Processors Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs)); Operating System support for these architectures (e.g. platform abstraction and scheduling) and FPGA CAD algorithms.

Academic History

I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Brunswick in Electrical Engineering with the Computer Option in 1999. I then completed my Masters of Applied Science and my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 2001 and 2006, respectively.

Other Interests

Outside my academic interests, I am also actively engaged in promoting science, engineering, and technology careers to women. To that end, I have been the faculty advisor of the Women in Engineering Group (WEG and am currently the faculty advisor of SFU WEST, SFU's new Women in Engineering, Science and Technology group. Be sure to go to the SFUWEST homepage to find out more information about the opportunities available on and off campus.
