This demonstration has been designed to show how a structure reacts to a certain input force.
Here are some important points about the demo:
CONTROLS
- Click and drag the upper purple vector and observe the reaction force.
- Enter a force into the side window under beside the Input Force heading. Press enter.
DEMO DESCRIPTION
- Points A and B respresent are where the stucture is connected to ground. Connection A is
a joint that does not allow any movement of the triangle. Connection B is an extension of the triangle
that rests on the ground. Therefore connection B has no X direction reaction force or (-Y) direction reaction force. Connection A
always has an X and Y reaction force when a force is applied to it.
- The purple vector that exits perpendicular to the triangle at joint A is the moment. The moment exists when the input force is negative
since there is a twisting reaction created at point A since point B does not supply a reaction force.
