ENSC 495-4: Introduction to Microelectronic Fabrication

Course Instructor

Bonnie Gray

Course Description

This course gives students a hands-on introduction to Integrated Circuit Fabrication. The lectures introduce the theoretical background and application of each major IC fabrication processes (eg. oxidation, doping, depositions, photolithography and etching). The laboratory gives practical experience of each process as part of an IC the students build from the bare silicon to final working device.

Prerequisites

The main prerequisites the students need are an understanding of basic transistor and diode operation, and ENSC 225-4 or equivalent. HOWEVER, this course uses the same equipment as is used for research and has a strictly limited enrollment.

Course admission requires instructor permission, and admission to the course is handled using an application form (see below).

Application Form

APPLICATION FORM IS DUE NOV 16, 2005. Please give to the ENSC receptionist to deliver to Dr. Gray.

NOTE: Last year nearly twice as many applications for available spots were received. Please plan accordingly and do not count on being able to add this course.
