Beautiful weather welcomed four tennis players to this
semester's ENSC Tennis Tournament. The event had
originally been planned for eight players, but had to be
quickly modified to accomodate for a few no-shows the day
of.
The four players (Veljko Jovanovic, Scott Logie, Roger Stock, and Michael Zhen Zheng) played a round-robin of pro-set matches (first to 8 games) to decide who would play for first and who would play for third. After the six matches had been completed, the players finished as follows:
So the finals pitted Michael Zhen Zheng and Scott Logie against each other, whose first meeting had been decided in a tie-break, and Veljko Jovanovic against Roger Stock both of whom had picked up the level of their games after some early jitters. After the finals, no change in rankings were observed as Michael and Veljko handily defeated their opponents to retain first and third place respectively.
For those students who expressed interest in playing in the tournament but were unable to attend, never fear. A second tennis tournament is tentatively scheduled for mid-September, before the rush of another engineering semester sets in. Again, this event will be open to all Applied Science students.
