Nonlinear Dynamics of Electronic Systems-NDES'95

Michael Peter Kennedy, Chairman

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College Dublin, Ireland, hosted the third international specialist workshop on Nonlinear Dynamics of Electronic Systems (NDES'95) in Dublin on July 28-29, 1995.

The goal of the NDES series of workshops is to bring together engineers, mathematicians, and physicists from across Europe who share common interests in nonlinear phenomena in electrical circuits and systems. Since the workshops are intended primarily to foster cross-fertilisation of ideas across Europe, a special effort has traditionally been made to facilitate the participation of scientists from central and eastern Europe by offering reduced registration fees and travel support where possible.

Eighty-eight manuscripts were submitted to NDES'95 for review and sixty-three were accepted for presentation. Ninety participants from nineteen different countries registered for the workshop, twenty-three of these from central and eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine). Four participants travelled from the United States and seven from Japan.

Keynote papers on the state-of-the-art and topical open problems were presented by six invited speakers: Leon Chua (UC Berkeley), David Hamill (University of Surrey), Ulrich Parlitz (Georg-August University, Göttingen), Alexander Sharkovsky (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences), Leonid Shil'nikov (Institute of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics, Nizhny Novgorod), and Joos Vandewalle (KU Leuven).

Financial support for the event was received from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, IEEE UKRI Section, IEE Irish Centre, NEC Semiconductors Ireland, and University College Dublin. This enabled us to provide travel support to nineteen participants from central and eastern Europe.

The Organising Committee of NDES'95 is indebted to the Nonlinear Circuits and Systems Technical Committee for its support of this event.

NDES'96 will be held in Seville, Spain, on June 27-28, 1996. For further information, see http://www.cica.es/~cnm/ndes96.
