Well, if anybody is reading this, then that means that we have gotten an Enscquire out. This is good. We are on the path back to our former glory. Looking around the department, I get the feeling that those good old days that the recent grads keep talking about are on their way back.

It being a winter semester we have the infamous 370 starting up and everone is geering up and getting excited about their projects. Thanks to our newly started endowment fund we are able to help student out a bit to make the projects even bigger and better than before. It won't be long, and you will all be voluntarily killing yourselves to get these projects done. And remember, although the couch in the lounge may be a comfortable place to sleep, it has not been cleaned since I got here and it wasn't looking so hot even back then.

There seem to be no question that the two big projects that are happening are the Airship and MiRoSoT. The Airship is already winning big international competitions, and MiRoSoT is going to be doing the same soon. (I can feel it in my bones) Once we get going SFU geers do amazing things.

Coming up in Mid February, we have the 99 Polar Plunge. This is our greatest tradition since 1989, we have raised over $20,000 for the Variety Club. ($20,000 is just a guess, but is sounds right and I'm willing to bet no one is going to bother looking it up to challenge me on it.) Put on your long underwear and pull out your loud portable instruments (voices count) 'cause we are gonna raise some hell and freeze some ass. You want in? Talk to Naomi (nko).

A special thanks to our reps at CCES who learned that there is more to the conference than parties and beer, but were able to squeeze them in just the same. They have initiated some talk about WECC 2001. Will it be here? Read the weekly minutes to find out. Speaking of WECC, we are sending five of you to WECC 1999 in Saskatoon all the best to our competitors.

Well, here I go talking a little about everything, without really talking about anything in particular. Sound like a good time to stop. Enjoy the pain.
