ca$h for cour$e work?
bill england, staff writer

Ever had an opinion? Ever designed something? Ever wanted to win ca$h for doing so? Annually, cash prizes are awarded at the Western Engineering Competition & Conference (WECC) for editorial communications (ie. having an opinion and talking about it for half an hour), explanatory communications (ie. explain the technical in layperson's terms), entrepreneurial design (ie. making something), and corporate design (ie. making something at work). Having attended WEEC previously, I can assure that many of the winners are nothing to marvel at, and I would strongly encourage everyone not to delete the emails begging for entries next year! The EUSS generally covers all but $100 of the cost, and you get to keep all of your winnings. Plus, if you are fortunate enough to finish first or second in your category, you will advance to the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC) for a chance to win more ca$h. Not bad for some course work that you will have stuffed in the closet months before!

While it is too late to attend this year, because WECC happens around the end of January/beginning of February, everyone should (especially those of you in project courses such as Ensc370, and research paper course like Ensc 100, 305) save up projects, research papers, and opinions for a chance at a fun filled and potentially financially prosperous week at WECC.
