Band: Bush x
Album: Sixteen Stone

This band from across the Atlan-tic are actually more successful in North America than they are in Britain. The band made up of lead vocalist, guitarist Gavin Rosdale; bassist Dave Parsons; guitarist Nigel Pulsford and drummer Robin Goodridge are slowly but surely reaching a pinnacle of success that is bound to make them as big as bands the likes of Hootie and The Blowfish, the Stone Temple Pilots, and dare I say Pearl Jam.

Bush could be best classified as an alternative hard rock band. Characteristic of this genre of music, most of the songs are accompanied by hard, strained guitar riffs, solos and heavy, rhythmic drumming. The songs, sung in Rosdale's gravelly, harsh voice, successfully portray the feelings of extreme pessimism and skepticism, darkness, foreboding doom and despair that are inherent in the lyrics. All in all a rocking band that are definitely going to be around for a quite a while if they can be consistent in their next effort. For those of you who like this kind of music I highly recommend this CD.

Artist: Mae Moore
Album: Dragonfly

This Canadian artist actually lives on Vancouver island and Dragonfly is, if I am not mistaken, her third effort. Like her previous album, Bohemia, this effort seems to be an in-depth exploration into humanity, but unlike Bohemia it is more subjective and explores subjects such as the pursuit of happiness and the intricacies and complications of love.

As on previous albums the songs on this effort are profound, soul searching and passionate. The music on this CD is soft, relaxing and calming and complements with Ms. Moore's soft, sensual, smooth voice in beautiful harmony. This effort gets a perfect 10 and for those of you who enjoy soft relaxing music this CD is a definite must-have.
