New Scholarship and Donation From Glenayre

As education cost climbs higher continuously, scholarship becomes more important as a source of income for students. Thanks go to Dr. Jim Cavers who contacted Glenayre R&D Inc. and helped to get a scholarship and dona-tion for equipment for Engineering and Computing Science students from Glenayre this year.

Glenayre is a leading company in wireless data communictions, embed-ded systems, digital signal processing, communication network management, and communication systems hardware design. To increase the awareness of Glenayre's business and employment opportunities, and to help purchase more capital electronic equipment for use by undergraduate students, Glen-ayre donated $10,000 to SFU ($5000 to Computing and $5000 to Engineering) for 1995. Don't be surprised when you see a label on some new equipment saying, "Donated by Glenayre 1995."

In addition, Glenayre donated two scholarship awards of $1,500 each for 1995 to Engineering and Computing Science students. Before I knew there was such a scholarship (I am not quali-fied anyway), Chad Kendall, as an engineer student, already won it. Mr. Gavin Mortin of Glenayre gave the awards to Chad in person (see photo).

So if you have interest in one or more areas pertaining to Glenayre's business (communication related), and you have finished first year, you should apply for the scholarship (It's a good amount of money). For now, if you need some cash donation, you know to whom you should talk.
