da prez sez
kevin cheng, euss president

It feels strange writing a Prez Sez for several reasons. (1) Through a number of mishaps, we haven't had an Enscquire in a while and thus the Prez hasn't had to write one. (2) Even if we had any Enscquires, I was on an 8 month co-op, leaving the organization and running of the EUSS up in the air. (3) I started first year by drawing Enscyber for the Enscquire.

This is probably one of those prophetic life circle things that people talk about but is too deep for anyone to actually make anything of when it happens to them. When I came into first year, I volunteered to help Duhane Lam, the VP Publications at the time, with the Enscquire (shouldn't YOU be doing that about now?). Duhane later became the Prez, during which time, I edited an issue of Enscquire to lighten Dave T. Brown's workload. The year after, I was interim VP Publications and the first thing I did was to update the look of the Enscquire. Last year, I was VP Publications just like Duhane was when I was in first year. Now, I’m that fall guy/scapegoat/pretzel thing just like Duhane was when I was in second year. Two days ago, I saw none other than Duhane Lam. This is all just dumb coincidence but it's interesting that the first EUSS related person that I met is also here when I'm about to call it quits to give me some tips.

There's a Dilbert on the cover of the First Week Guide that describes how Dilbert assigns an hour of each meeting for U.B.R., otherwise known as Unfocused Boss Ramblings. I think the Prez Sez could just as easily be called the U.P.R. I've never seen a Prez write anything really deep or meaningful. Why is it those in power always end up making the least sense, contribute the least, but end up taking up the most space and resources? Yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah.

Cheryl should really be writing this article. I've been a Prez for all of 2 weeks. She's been a Prez for all of that and a semester. But since we want an Enscquire out (or 3), time is of the essence. I’m sure Aaron won't complain if Cheryl wants to write doubly as much in the next issue.

Anywho, I shall step aside now, exit stage right, make like a tree and leave, audi... you get the idea. Enjoy the U.E.R. in this issue.
