Mr. Ed. Speaks

Erik Minty - EUSS VP Publications

Another month, another Enscquire. Why is it that nobody wants to send me articles until a week past my deadline? Lucky for most of them, I'm not too keen on putting out a teensy issue.

Which is why I need your help! Although I recognize the fact that I seem to be superhuman and find myself able to do homework in my sleep (which ex-plains why I'm not as far behind as I should be), I really can't do this entire paper by myself. In the past, 8 and 12-page issues were produced by a "Publications Committee." Where did everybody go???

But enough playing the fiddle. If you are interested in learning the ins and outs of putting together a newspaper, this is a great opportunity! Let me know, and I'll get you started right away. This will look especially good if you plan on running for the position of EUSS VP Publications next year.

If you don't have the time to help directly, there is always the small matter of getting a minimum of 5 people to review the contents of every issue to ensure that it conforms to EUSS Publications policies (which appear in this and every other issue.)

Besides, I'm certain that you people must be getting just a little bit tired of my jokes by now ...

Over the summer, we started a tradition of providing a "theme" for each issue. That seemed to inspire some of the creative juices for the travelling types. So in keeping with that tradition, the October issue theme is "Special Projects." Let me know if you're involved in a special engineering-related project that you'd like to share with everyone, and we'll put you in the limelight!

And further to this end, if you're thinking of joining the Enscquire team, you're about to find out that there's more to putting out a newspaper than collecting articles and booting people off the 486's so you can do layout ...
