Application Procedures for Fall 2007With an international reputation for innovation, Engineering Science (ENSC) offers an intense and fast-paced program which mirrors life at the frontiers of development in advanced technologies-microelectronics, computer engineering, robotics, mechatronics, biomedical engineering, multimedia, systems, and telecommunications. Our first year class is limited to 160 students. SFU's Student Services process the applications and offers begin early in the New Year but most offers are sent in April and May. To Apply1. Admission Requirements for High School Students Courses Required: Physics 12, Mathematics 12, Chemistry 12, English 12 and one other Grade 12 course selection is required (equivalent senior level high school courses in other provinces and/or countries can be used to meet course requirements). Deadline Apply to SFU for early admission between November 1 and March 6, 2007. The deadline for regular admission to SFU for Fall is April 30, 2007. There are a limited number of Engineering Science Scholarships available to students who obtain an 85% or higher admission average. These scholarships, valued at $500 each, will be allocated on a first come first served basis to those students who accept our admission offer early in the admission process. SFU also awards entrance scholarships to outstanding new students. Admission Requirements for Post Secondary Students External Transfer from another Post-Secondary Institution Students transferring from other universities, regional colleges, or technical institutions may apply to begin study in any semester and must have an admission average of 2.5. Upon admission, transfer credits will be awarded by SFU Student Services for appropriate academic courses completed at an accredited university or college. Some transfer credit may be awarded to applicants who have graduated with first class standing from a recognized technology program. Deadlines Summer 2007 semester entry (May to August) January 31, 2007 Fall 2007 semester entry (September to December) April 30, 2007 Spring 2008 semester entry (January to April) October 1, 2007 (For deadlines for International Students, please visit: http://students.sfu.ca/adm/process.html ) Internal Transfer from another program within SFU SFU students who wish to transfer into ENSC require a 2.5 CGPA from the Faculty of Science, School of Computing Science, Science One, or Tech One programs on a full course load (minimum 12 credit hours). Students transferring from any other SFU faculty, school, or program must have a CGPA of 2.7 on a full course load (minimum 12 credit hours). SFU students apply by submitting the following request directly to ENSC (ensc-adm@sfu.ca): An email requesting admission to ENSC and the semester that you wish to be admitted. Include your full name, student number, and email contact information. 3. Admission Requirements for Second Degree Students Students must first gain admission to SFU. Once admitted, students apply directly to ENSC in the same manner as an SFU student, and in addition, supply copies of all previous transcripts (photocopies are acceptable). Up to 80 credit hours of course waivers may be granted upon admission to ENSC.
